Rant after the jump.
I sincerely have no idea why I continue to put up with my parents' antics. It is physically impossible for me to get any sincere praise or acknowledgement of whatever effort I've made towards studies or "a brighter future" (yes, because being willing to concede loss when no one else will is definite sphincter exercise in this part of the world). If there is any praise, I can expect it to be taken back and then some within 30 minutes. I'm not going to blame my general lack of self-esteem on them completely, but I'd really like to be told that I can do something at least half-decently.
Apparently neglecting computers until they break and then abandoning it is perfectly fine for my parents, but if I manage to break said broken computer further out of frustration after yet another failed attempt to unbreak it, it's full on malicious intent and I'm a slaughterer of babies, a supporter of the corrupt government (the jury is still out on that, but they aren't competent by any measure), and the one who orchestrated the Nanjing Massacre (I'm ethnically Chinese, so this is a sore spot for most of my social circles here) and all other things. Never mind that I was told that I was completely on my own for said attempts, and that sending it to be serviced was out of the question due to being "too expensive" (from a person who spends in excess of RM240 a month on beer alone). And they hadn't used it in an extremely long time...
